So, remember a few posts ago (interjection: This statement is derived from my imaginary happy place where lots and lots of people read and actually enjoy my blog. I know that this is not reality, however we are just going to proceed as if Mindy's Imagination Happy Place Land is reality at this moment - okay continue) when I mentioned that I had realized that I hadn't done my post on Father's Day yet? Well, I still haven't, so I'm going to do it now (which really should be okay since everyday is Father's Day when you're a father, right? Okay, sorry for the interruption, continue.)
So for Father's Day this year, being Jon's first "real" Father's Day I wanted to do something special. We really had no extra cash, so I couldn't get him some elaborate gift, or even a fishing trip, so Sophia and I had to improvise a bit. And I think it turned out pretty well. :)
First we made the card - I know you can't see it very well in the picture, but we traced Sophia's hand, and let me tell you that tracing a 6 month old's hand is VERY difficult. (Sadly, this card is no longer in existence as it was mixed up with some trash papers and thrown away accidently when we were moving. I was very sad about it, but at least I have a picture!) Sophia was a big help, as you can see...
She helped put the love in it! (Yes, she hugged and kissed the card)
Then she helped me get Daddy's presents all layed out for him and even helped me take the tags off of the shirts. She liked that part. :) (For the record, I picked out the red shirt and Sophia picked out the blue shirt)
Daddy had no idea what his girls were up to. He thought that his present was just choosing Sophia's outfit and hairstyle for church and me letting him take her to class with him. :)
Then we had to wait forever for Daddy to come in to see his presents, but when he did he loved them!
Now I didn't get any pictures of him reading his card or seeing his new shirts because Sophia, after getting bored of waiting for him decided that she was tired and got a little fussy. But he loved them and he loved the card. :)
Later that night we went to Jon's twin's house to watch a movie, and Jon was so proud of himself for getting Sophia to sleep on his chest (she normally will NOT let us rock her to sleep and will never sleep on my chest, this is something only Daddy can do) and we ended the night with him basking in his fatherly glory.
All in all, I think that it was a success. I am so lucky to have such an AMAZING husband who is always there for us to support us in whatever we need. He is such a great dad, never complains about me asking him to watch Sophia so I can get something done, and actually volunteers to take her with him to his Sunday School classes - even when he was the teacher! He loves her so much and I love him so much and we all love eachother so much and that just makes us one great happy family. I love you Jon, thanks for being such a great husband and father!
