Sunny Days

So do you ever just have one of those days that is close to perfect? Yesterday seemed to be one of those days for me. Even though there were some things that weren't so great, it was still just a fantastic day. Even when someone in one of my training classes fell off of his chair and landed on his already broken ankle with a really wimpy cast on it and we had to file for worker's compensation and drive him to the hospital, it was still just one of those days where I was smiling through it all. Maybe someday we'll all know the reason for days like these, but for now I'm just so entirely happy with life and so greatful for my family and friends.

Plus I have the internet now! :) Picture catchup! (Be aware, it's a lot!)

My new niece Makenzi born in January - so cute!

My cute nephew Owen when we went on vacation to St George - what a rockstar!

Jon's nasty toe after having his ingrown toenails worked on (yeah, they took the WHOLE nail! Gross!)

Jon's truck that we're considering selling so he can get one that will tow the boat easier (anyone interested?) :)

These are our Easter baskets! We weren't really wanting a lot of candy each, so I had Salsa and Almonds and a movie, while Jon had Mountain Dew, candy, and bills! :)

Jon at my parents house just being himself. :) I sure love this guy!

Molly on the first really sunny Saturday of the year! Jon and I did yardwork all day and cleaned out our shed, and the dogs were just happy that we were outside with them!

Ricky found one of the little trees that I cut down and decided that it was HIS tree now, he was really upset when I tried to play fetch with it.

Closer look at Ricky guarding his stick.

Anyway, that basically covers our life the last few months. It's boring, but hey! At least I can put pictures up now! :)

Out of the Stone Age...Almost

I'M FINALLY GETTING THE INTERNET AGAIN!!!! YAY!!!! I know how boring and annoying it is to read blogs with no pictures, so those of you who actually read mine I don't really know how you do it. I mean, it's easy to write them with no pictures, but not so much fun to read them...Anyway, after months of constant nagging and begging and pleading and tantrum throwing (added to the fact that one of Jon's classes this summer is online), Jon actually called and ordered Digis internet yesterday! I didn't even know he was going to do it, he just told me when we got off of work! So yeah, I'm way excited that I'll FINALLY be able to post something remotely interesting on here! Yay for me! :)

Update on Jon and Baby Brother Brian

So, for those of you who didn't know, Jon put in an application for Pharmacy school at the University of Southern Nevada. They are one of the few who weren't requiring the PCAT yet, and since he hadn't taken it he applied. Unfortunately, he just got a response saying that he wasn't accepted, and he found out that there were over 1800 applicants! So yeah, no Pharmacy school this year, but he's scheduled to take the PCAT this fall and he'll be sending his test results to schools all over the country, so we'll have to wait and see what happens. He also has a just a couple more classes to take for some of the schools he's applying for (I think just three classes), so he'll be back in school possibly this summer and for sure this fall and then apply for Pharmacy school fall 2010.

As for Baby Brother Brian, he'll be released from his mission on June 29! I can't believe he's almost coming home! Those 2 years flew by! My family (as in my Mom and Dad and Baby Brother Jeffrey) will be going to get him in Colorado and spend a few days there before bringing him home - it just seemed silly to make him fly when it's just a 9 hour drive. Anyway, I'm so excited to have my Baby Brother home and I'm so proud of him for going on a mission. Just wanted to give everyone updates! :)

Easter and Priests

I just love Easter! My Grandma Nielsen always has a big family party at her house and we all get to go over there and play and get lots of candy! Okay, I didn't get a lot of candy, but all of my cute little cousins did! It was so much fun! I really just like seeing everyone the most - we had my aunt Nannette and uncle Mike there with their three girls, Jonathan and Michelle and their two kids, Jen and Brady and their 3 kids (Gracie was sooooo stinking cute in her little Easter dress!) and of course, my family! Mom & Dad, Julie & Phil, Jeffrey and Jon. It was so fun! I got to play with Julie's hamster named Spike, and I'm glad I did because the next day he got loose somehow and Whitey the cat got him. So sad, poor Spike.

Anyway, that was fun, but after that we went up to Hyrum to spend the night at my parents house (well, all except for Phil who had to work). We got there at about 10PM and put eachothers Easter baskets together, then Julie decided that we needed to color eggs, but we didn't have any! So me and Julie went to Macy's, and we got eggs but there was no coloring kits! So we went to Smiths, and then Albertsons (who had a Hannah Montanna kit, but Julie refused to get it), and finally to Wal-Mart, where we found a tie-dye coloring kit! We didn't color the eggs until Sunday afternoon, but it was way fun!

On Sunday morning we all went to church with my family and my baby brother Jeffrey (who is still sitting at around 6'2 or 6'3...for now) was ordained a Priest! I can't believe he's already 16! It was really neat though, and I'm very proud of him. :)

Anyway, I have a ton of pictures, but again no internet to put them on with (I can't upload pictures at work, the USB Ports are deactivated or whatever for security reasons.) Once I get a chance I'll load them on here though! :)

I hope that everyone else had a Happy Easter too! :)

So, most of you know how I don't really cook? Well, not being able to cook very well + cooking at 1AM = catching my kitchen on fire!

So I was trying to make some fried zucchini that Amber made for us the other day that was very yummy - and I'm also planning on making it for my family on Sunday so I wanted to practice - but I didn't get a chance until 1AM. I was also excited to use my new stir-fry pan that I got for Christmas from my grandma. So while I was cutting up the zucchini I thought "Hey! I should start heating up the oil in the pan". Well, I put the pan on the stove and put in the olive oil, and went back to cutting my veggies. Well, it took a little longer than I planned, plus I ended up running in to talk to Jon for a second, but a few minutes passed and I was back to cutting my veggies when Jon came in the kitchen to say something, and he saw that the pan was smoking really bad. Before he could ask me why I wasn't watching it, it burst into flames!
He hurried and took it off of the stove while I just gawked at it for a minute - the flames were going about a foot high! So smoke is billowing from it and filling the kitchen and we had to open the door and get a large lid to smother the flames. (I'm just glad that I remembered not to put water on it!) Once the fire was out, Jon started to ask me why I hadn't been watching it, and then he just stopped and gave me a hug and said it was okay. I wasn't really upset about it yet, I was still in shock I think, but later I got upset over it and I was glad for his hug then. :)

Anyway, we opened all of the windows and the doors and turned on the fans and it took 45 min to an hour to clear it all out. So at about 2AM I was all sad and depressed at my feeble attempt to make a delicious dinner for me and Jon, and Jon, being all sorts of sweet, says that he would really love it if I still made the zucchini and how excited he was for it and got me to go in and try again. I tried to clean the pan to use it again, but it was ruined, so I had to use a different pan, and this time I didn't turn on the heat until I had the food in it. :) It turned out really good though, to my credit, and I just made some rolls to go with them.

Anyway, that's how I almost burned down my kitchen. Give me a break, I'm still learning all of this grown up stuff! :)

I'm So Confused...

So, remember how we were told that it would be 5-10 years at least until our house is demolished into a pile of rubble and turned into a road? Well that was when Gov Huntsman approved $500 Million for the project (which apparantly only covers the first 10 miles of the project!). It's a $2 Billion project, so the guy who's in charge told us that they were still a long ways off. Makes sense, so we planned on remodeling our bathroom and re-shingling our roof, and I had a peace of mind that we wouldn't be wasting our time or money on it. Well, last week Gov Huntsman approved $1 Billion for the project, (in order to help generate jobs, as they are sorely needed) and we got an email saying that we would be contacted shortly for information on the acquisition of our home! So now it looks like it may be soon again. (Sigh) I just wish we could get a straight answer! So we're putting our remodeling plans on the back burner until we know, but just wanted to give the update that it may be a lot sooner than we thought, or we could be waiting for 10 years...I guess we'll just have to keep waiting.
